Wedding Wednesday: Update, We Postponed… Again

Hi friends & Happy Wednesday!
I wrote this post early August but never published it due to everything going on in the world, it just didn’t feel right. Before you keep on reading, I don’t want to come off as “boohoo me, feel bad for me blah blah blah”. Sympathy is not what I’m looking for. I know a ton of girls follow me and ask me for updates with my wedding because they’re either in the same boat or just curious! I’m happy to share parts of my life including this one. With that all being said, as you can tell by the title, we’ve postponed our wedding.. AGAIN.

I know what you’re thinking, not again!? From our original date of April 4th being postponed to August 29th to now late May 2021, is crazy to even think about. This time though I can say it was our choice. As many of you know, April 4th was out of our hands. The city of Houston (and many other parts of the world) were on complete shutdown mode thanks to Covid-19. This was a tough pill to swallow as we were literally 2-3 weeks away from the big day. Obviously, I completely understand why things happened the way they did & it’s ok. Am I happy about it? Of course not. Was it for the best? Yes. Now we were thankfully given a 6-month timeframe to choose a new date from. We chose Saturday, August 29th. For me, it was still summertime where I could still have my spring colored theme but also far enough in hopes of things getting better. WELL, who was I kidding? None of us thought we would still be dealing with Covid-19 in August but look where we’re at. Nuts.

All of our vendors were still on board for the new date but Henry & I just did not feel right about inviting our family & friends to a large event with Covid-19 still being around. There still isn’t a cure. There still isn’t a vaccine. & there still are high numbers in Texas. The thought of someone getting sick from our wedding or even the thought of someone dying was NOT worth it. Our wedding day is supposed to be one of the happiest days in our life and God forbid we are the reason someone takes on this horrible virus. We waited until the last day that we possibly could to postpone and on August 1st, we told our wedding planner to go ahead and let our vendors know. Henry & I have saved up for this dream wedding since the day we got engaged. That’s a year and a half of saving literally every penny we had for this day and the thought of having so many restrictions just didn’t sit right with me. If you want me to be completely honest, I don’t want people wearing masks to our wedding. I want to see everyone’s beautiful face, I don’t want people to feel like they can’t dance because of social distancing. I don’t want tables with a limited amount of people because again, social distancing. Do I get why these things need to happen now? Of course! But if I can postpone to a time where HOPEFULLY things get better and we won’t have restrictions, then why not!? If I had to wait 3 years to have my dream wedding, I would! Is that an option for us? No lol. We could not choose past the month of May 2021 or else we’d have to pay a 3k fee to our catering company (crazy I know). That’s not including all of the fees we’re already having to pay to move it from THIS WEEKEND to next year.

So, just like that, we went from 28 days away to 273 days away. *deep sigh* But as I’ve said throughout this all, I’m just grateful my family & friends are still here alive, happy & healthy. Our safety and health is far more important right now. My only fear is not having everyone around when the time for the wedding comes BUT I’m going to remain faithful. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed following along the crazy journey of me trying to have my dream wedding LOL. Pictured above is an illustration of myself, Henry & Bentley that was on our Change The Date cards. We never got a chance to send them out but they’re just too cute to not share so I’ll share the illustration for now. Let me know if you have any questions when it comes to postponing our wedding or just wedding questions in general. I’m happy to answer. Until next Wednesday.
Xx, Es <3
